This was the longest toil of our project. One that I had taken upon myself. Taking the clips from Varisha's Google Drive, I compiled the heavy files on Capcut until my laptop gave up and I switched to Canva where the process to join the clips for our narrative was smoother.

But that's the easy peasy part.

After the rough cut, as posted before, I got to the rest of the elements. One of the first things I wanted to work on was the color grading. Since our film is a dramedy and our plot is pretty whimsical I wanted to take inspiration from Wes Anderson's style of color grading, particularly in two of my favourites: The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Asteroid City.

My attempt

This was cute and I was very proud of myself and Varisha also liked it until we realised...

I completely forgot about branding.

Branding, brandon whatever.

And so FINALLY after all these, we finalised this one.

Soundtrack

We kept this amazing song from our previous soundtrack since it really matches the funky Dr Bootleg vibe and whimsy elements of the narrative.

I chose this piece as the track for Dr Bootleg's scenes for its upbeat and jolly vibe.

And good ol' Mendelssohn for Sam's dramatic existential crisis.

Love my classical playlists.

Other than these tracks I added a record scratch and paper crumple sound effects to make it more engaging. Juxtaposing the two soundtracks i.e. the upbeat Ballad of Mack the Knife along with Mendelssohn's dramatic classical piece created a funny contrast in the energies of our characters. Therefore soundtrack design was a success.

For editing some clip durations after review, I had to hop on Google Meet with Varisha and I worked on Canva to organise the clips.

The title I added on the film on Canva as well since we had to keep the fonts according to our branding.
